Education

Working extensively within education in Manchester, I contribute to the effectiveness of schools in a number of ways. Through targeted and appropriate intervention, I support teaching, and non-teaching staff and work with parents to positively affect those aspects of the school community that impact upon pupil’s health and well-being, which is inextricably linked to learning.

This could be providing ad hoc coaching support to staff who are experiencing stress in work; building better team work with lunch time organisers or supporting parents to improve their mental health, the ways are many.

I bring a balanced combination of professional expertise experience working in Manchester schools and common sense to all that I do.  I create a welcoming, warm and focused space where everyone is valued and respected. My life coaching technique promotes self-development and personal and professional change and is based on Cognitive Behavioural thinking and Neuro Linguistic Programming.

Teaching Staff – Supporting individual teachers where necessary, my involvement would take the form of a one-to-one coaching session.  This could involve developing stress management techniques, tackling anxiety, coping with personal issues affecting work delivery and staff conflict resolution.  In other Manchester schools, this has helped improved performance, maintain good practice, reduced absence and lessened conflict.

Parents – Liaising and working in partnership with the Family Support Worker, I will coach parents and hold small workshops developing interaction and mutual support amongst parents. The aims will be to build resilience, confidence and motivation, to improve parenting skills, engage families with school activities and so positively impact pupil attendance and achievement.

Non-Teaching Staff – To support of the work of the Senior Management Team, provide group support or one-to-one coaching to members of the pastoral team, catering staff, and lunchtime organisers.  This could include for example, working with lunchtime organisers, building a team, improving their skill set and developing a more professional ethos to improve the service they provide. and empowered teams to find solutions to presenting problems.
